The Man Who Wrestled With God

The story of Jacob at the brook Jabbok is one of the most mysterious and puzzling in all the scripture. Jacob is forced to wrestle with a supernatural being of uncertain origin and is left permanently marked by the encounter. Yet somehow, at the same time, he is propelled forward into his God_ordained destiny.

The story leaves many questions unanswered. At the same time it reveals a great deal about God's dealings with us as individuals and gives us insight into the sometimes violent inner transformation that each of our souls must undergo as God shapes us for His purposes.
